After her Bronze medal in the Commonwealth Judo Championship, Nicola Evripidou was in action again in Luxembourg in the -57Kg category where here first contestant was Kesya Gangbes of France.

Both athletes started off strong, with attacks from them but Nicola received a Shido penalty for an incorrect grip. The athlete from France then threw Nicola for a Waza-ari – a borderline decision, but a score it was. After 2 minutes Nicola received another Shido for non-combativity and then a third for a false attack – her third penalty that eliminated her from the contest.
